The satisfying ones I do not regret.

At my most despairing, I have concluded that the only solution to my particular affliction is to find – then take permanent refuge in – a loving, long-term relationship where cerebral and soulful connections compensate for my inability to lose myself in pleasure. I rose-tint my previous long-term relationship. Even when the sex was not great it was loving, and to be held in love is heaven. My higher brain function is aware that no man can save me from my neuroses but my lizard brain thinks that is absolutely what men are for. However, scaring up a good and reliable man is not so straightforward, and indeed, seems dependent on presenting like a conventionally attractive gal. Arriving at a sanitised feminine ideal is, in its own backwards way, a power move, and yet I am also terrified of the regressive state it runs one aground in. This regressive state is expressed with stark absolutism in the next film I am to discuss.
